The General Hugh Shelton Leadership Challenge Institute draws exceptional high school students for a one-week summer experience focusing on intensive leadership training. NSTAR Proudly sponsors 2 outstanding students each year for this highly selective program.

Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit organization seeking to eliminate poverty and homelessness. Johnston County Habitat for Humanity promotes home ownership with volunteers building houses in partnership with Johnston County residents in need of adequate housing. In 2007, the NSTAR team will assist in building affordable housing in Johnston County, North Carolina.

Additionally, we support the Clayton High School Performing Arts Program by sponsoring travel and competition of the Marching Band.

In partnership with the American Red Cross, NSTAR sponsored a very successful blood drive on March 15, 2007. During a 1 shift drive, the maximum number of donors the Red Cross can support is 55. NSTAR received an excellent response from the community and had 49 blood donors! The American Red Cross drove away with enough donations to save the lives of 129 patients of local hospitals and local Military personnel.

With this overwhelming response to our first-ever Red Cross Blood Drive, NSTAR is preparing to make this an annual event. Thank you to all our supporters, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
