Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit organization seeking to eliminate poverty and homelessness. Johnston County Habitat for Humanity promotes home ownership with volunteers building houses in partnership with Johnston County residents in need of adequate housing. Every year the NSTAR team assists in building affordable housing in Johnston County, North Carolina.
Blood Drives
In partnership with the American Red Cross, NSTAR sponsors local blood drives. Our first was a very successful blood drive on March 15, 2007. NSTAR received an excellent response from the community and had 49 blood donors! The American Red Cross drove away with enough donations to save the lives of 129 patients of local hospitals and local Military personnel.
We are currently planning for our second drive to be held in 2009. Thank you to all our supporters, and we look forward to seeing you again this year!
Special Olympics
NSTAR team members volunteered at the 2008 Johnston County Special Olympics Field Day. There were over 500 athletes at this event, and by manning the concession stands, and painting faces, NSTAR team members helped the Special Olympics raise funds for continuing support and future events.
Shelton Leadership Challenge
The General Hugh Shelton Leadership Challenge Institute draws exceptional high school students for a one-week summer experience focusing on intensive leadership training. NSTAR Proudly sponsors numerous outstanding students each year for this highly selective program.
Clayton High School Performing Arts Program
Additionally, we support the Clayton High School Performing Arts Program by sponsoring travel and competition of the Marching Band.
